Starting the engine
The airbet is powered with a 100 hp Rotax engine.
If the engine is cold apply choke. Open throttle about 1 cm. Set magneto's, and apply brake.
Check if the rotor brake is set. If not apply rotor brake.
Start the engine , take slowly the choke away and set 2000 RPM's.

TAKE OFF
Crosswind landing
Today i was practicing crosswind take offs and landings. The wind was about 10 knots full cross and was building up. Take offs are slightly different to do if you are used to fly airplanes.
Pull the stick all the way back, add 60% power, and when te nose raise, push the stick down and slightly add full power keeping the nose wheel off the ground. This is the tricky part. When the nosewheel touches the ground the autogyro reacts very nervious. When airborne, keep nose down and build up speed up to 100 kmph, then the sky is yours! Crosswind handeling is more or less the same like airplanes, stick in the wind!
