doing touch an go's with the Savannah and Rans s12

We arrived  at 10.00h on the Totana airfield, and started right away practice touch and go's with a student pilot. The landings where  rusty, and need to be practiced more. But keep up the good work! keeping the nose up!

The first student pilot landing with the Rans s12 was a bad hair day landing also. The attempt to correct the left breakout, resulted in a right wing drop. A go around was the best decision. The next landings where good ones

Thunderstorm in Totana flying the Rans s12

At 13.00h big Cb clouds stared to building up. I had a appointment with Manuel At 1700h. To give him a flying lesson. When we arrived  at the airfield, it was cristal clear weather  on the south  direction, but  to the nord it was black and thunders where clear to hear. There was  a15 knot full cross wind, and we desided to practice touch and go's. manuel did a good job and did some pritty nice landings. here is the video result of  our flight.

Flying in Spain Slippy low pass at Totana airfield Rans s12

A slippy low pass  and try to stay in the axis off the runway. A good practice. Building up speed to take off again. Performed with a light nosewind. During the low pass, the throttle setting was 4500 rpm.

Flying in Spain practice engine failure and landing on the spot at Totana

I took Martin with me  to practice a failure of engine. At 1500 feet QFE overhead the airfield the engine on idle  and land on the spot. Just missed some left foot  on the flair... shame on me.
There was a light breeze right in the axis off the runway.

Flying in Spain trip to Mazarron Rans s12

Another disc filled with film material, so it is time for some new stories. This film is made on a thursday afternoon 17.00h. There was a strong full crosswind  from the east. It was a 15 knots full crosswind. So i took  off turning into the wind direction as much as possible. We did a 45 min flight to Mazarron. Up in the air it  was smooth to fly. Enjoy This movie.  Just  when we entered Mazzaron the camera battery was empty, so we where not able to film the trip back. Enjoy.

Testflight with the Ecoflyer jr05, in Totana, Spain

This morning I was fllling the Rans s12 to  give a lesson flight to Robin and Isabelle when Julio came to me and  asked me  if I wanted to fly with the ecoflyer.....Yes!!!! Julio flew first to checkride and fly the airplane. 10 min later it was my turn. I can say that it is a smooth airplane with a big glide ratio 17/1. At 4000 rpm we did a nice cruise flight off 160 km/u. Landing  with 90 km/u and 1 point of flaps. The landing is easy with this airplane, just needs some feet adjustment. The stick is very light an sensitive, so you don't need a lot of input. The cockpit is very roomy, and gives you the feeling you're flying with a big airplane.

Airbet sport Autogyro

An autogyro is a flying machine. Like a helicopter, it is a rotary wing aircraft- which means that it has a rotor to provide lift instead of wings like conventional airplanes. Unlike a helicopter, the rotor is not powered by the engine. It is made to spin by aerodynamic forces, through a phenomenon called autorotation. Since the rotor is not powered, an autogyro needs a separate source for propulsion, like an airplane. Conventionally, these have been propellers, but it's possible to use jet engines as well.       Now what causes the rotor to spin, or "autorotate?" The simple explanation is that the wind passing through it gives it its power. Think of those seed pods that spin as they fall. As they fall, the air makes them spin. (Because they're spinning, it's as if the mini wing was moving faster, so it creates more lift, and the seed pod doesn't fall as fast as it would if it didn't spin.)

Giving some rides with the Rans s12 in Totana Murcia Spain

On a sunny morning in november 2010 Manuel and his family enjoyed a flight tour with the Rans s12.

Flying Skills: practice in Granada. Peter and Alejandro

6AM local time I have an appointment with Alejandro, also a pilot. Today we’re going to level up or flying skills on the tecnam 92.
Destination: Granada. Aeroveleta Airfield, 2000 ft, lots of slopes, adventure for sure!
The weather seems to be alright, until we approach Granada. Visibility decreases to less than 1 km. arriving on Aeroveleta, we notice no-wind conditions and a reasonable visibility: 5km more or less.

Take off from 2000ft needs more runway. The 400 mt runway, slight slope, requires its full length, 15 degrees flaps included.

Following the circuit, to the left of course, 180º turn and an overhead later, it seems the airfield has disappeared. It takes us some minutes to find the airfield in between hundreds of olive trees, hills. Ready and steady, it was no magic.

In final, it feels a little bit strange, it is like flying towards a hill, with the result that our approach was high. Not the best choice because of the short runway.

But of course, we adapt very fast. 10 touch and go’s later, everything flies smoothly and we continue our practice.
The intention is to refine our pedalskills. We follow a narrow (2mt) ‘camino’ for 3 kms at 1 mt hight. Only pedals allowed.
A beneficial skill practice that needs a very accurate control.

Half an hour later, we fly back to the field, not having any problems finding it back.
@ 4pm we are back home, for taking a well-earned siesta!

It was a wonderful day

My Rans s12

My Rans s12 is equiped with a Rotax 582 65 hp.This engine provides me  a nice 70 mph cruise speed. The plexiglas fuselage with centered instrument panel provides pilot and passenger a extraordinairy view. Altough the airplane was designed  for training, it tabs you on the fingers by pilot errors.  With a little practice , the Rans s12 have  very good STOL characteristics
